Our children are many things

Cultivating Health for a Stronger, Brighter Future"

Our children are many things

Our children are many things

They are our blessings, and they are our desires

They are our troubles, and they are our reflections

They are our life and the future of the world

But, what are we to them,

We can be their blessings, and we can be the answer to their wants and desires

We are their Lords and Masters handing out rewards and punishment

We are their reflection, and they pattern their life after what they see in us

We are our children, only in a larger version

So, when our children do things, we do not like, what are we seeing?

Many times, we see ourselves

Families that do not participate in meals together place our children in danger, by

Separating them from the family group, and when we do, we create loners,

These children will not know how to act, and

Therefore, they will act alone, and without guidance, and

They will resent others who do not act as they do

If we separate them from the family group,

We tell them they are not good enough to sit with us,

We tell them they are not good enough, and

The message sometimes stays with them all their life for all things

They will not learn manners and will learn to be unruly

If we separate them from the family group,

They will be embarrassed because they don’t know how to act in a group

They will look for another family to become a part of

This family will fit their profile,

A group in which others have been treated like themselves

They sometimes find their answer in gangs or cults

Worse of all, we separate them from our love, and

A child growing up without love does not know how to give love

We have created another person just like us

Let us be their blessing; let us be the answer to their desires,

Let us not be their trouble, and let us be a reflection worthy of emulation

Let us be their life, and let us be part of their future

Let them be proud to introduce us to their friends

Let them be proud of us, and

Let them know that we love them deeply

Worth Reading : The Power of One More by Ed Mylett

Chapter Highlights

1. The One More Mindset

Mylett begins by introducing the core principle of the book: the "one more" philosophy. He emphasizes how adopting a mindset of doing just one more—whether it’s one more rep at the gym, one more call at work, or one more moment of kindness—can build momentum and unlock extraordinary results. This chapter sets the tone for the book, challenging readers to break through self-imposed limits.

2. One More Try

This chapter focuses on perseverance and resilience. Mylett shares stories and practical advice to encourage readers to persist even when success seems elusive. The takeaway? Your breakthrough might just be one more attempt away.

3. One More Habit

Mylett argues that success is built on small, consistent actions. By adding one more positive habit to your routine, you can create a ripple effect that transforms your life. This chapter includes actionable steps for building and sustaining habits that align with your goals.

4. One More Identity

Identity shapes behavior, and Mylett encourages readers to embrace the identity of someone who doesn’t quit and always gives their best. This chapter is a deep dive into self-perception and the stories we tell ourselves.

5. One More Contribution

A particularly powerful chapter, this section discusses the importance of leaving a legacy and making an impact on others. Mylett inspires readers to think about how they can give "one more" to the people around them—whether it’s time, attention, or resources.

Key Themes

  • Incremental Growth: The book emphasizes how small, consistent efforts can compound over time to create significant change.

  • Resilience and Grit: Each chapter serves as a reminder to keep pushing, even when it feels uncomfortable or challenging.

  • Mindset Shifts: Mylett challenges readers to reframe how they view effort and failure, focusing on the potential within every "one more."

Personal Reflection

The book is highly motivating, blending relatable anecdotes with actionable advice. One of the most inspiring aspects is how simple the concept is: anyone can adopt a "one more" approach, regardless of their starting point. It’s a reminder that extraordinary results often come from ordinary actions done consistently.
